Rebranding

In the Center’s 20-year history, it had never had a consistent marketing partner or a clear visual identity. Pear set design standards for vibrant colors and fonts and created a brand style guide to help staff create in-house materials consistent with the visual identity.

Website

Pear created a website that reflects the gardens' beauty, is easy to update with programming and event details, and allows donations and membership purchases. Pear wrote, designed and programmed the website and maintains the ever-changing site and online store.

Through the generosity of a grant, the Center engaged with Pear to write and design a visitors’ guide to the gardens. The brochure contains everything a visitor needs to know about the gardens and replaces individual brochures that created clutter in guest services.

Social Marketing

Pear posts and creates graphics and videos to promote educational programming and events and highlight volunteers. The Facebook page surpassed 10,000 followers in 2020, a 15% increase in one year.

Enews

By combining social marketing and enews, the Botanical Center reaches audiences at minimal cost. Pear writes and designs a monthly enews and creates separate blasts for special events, the annual plant sale and adopt a garden fundraiser. The Center consistently achieves open rates of 25-30%, which is higher than the 18% open rate for the entertainment industry.

Winter Nights Winter Lights Campaign

The Center launched a new exhibit called Winter Nights Winter Lights in 2017. The gardens bloom with 130,000 lights, and the event has seen a 73% increase in guests, 57% revenue growth and 60% growth in the number of lights since launching in 2017. The event saw record attendance in 2020 and a revenue goal of $60,000 was exceeded. Pear is the event’s marketing and promotions partner designing invitations, writing and distributing press releases, creating videos and promoting  activities during the month-long community tradition.

Strategic Marketing

Pear completed a critical assignment to help the Center update its strategic marketing plan. The in-depth analysis included surveys of staff, board members and the community. Pear partnered with the local media to promote the survey and received nearly 650 responses. The data was analyzed and presented to the board and staff to inform decisions about future exhibit expansion, events, admission pricing and membership value.

Membership Packet

The Center’s marketing wish list included a membership packet. Pear replaced the standard thank you letter with a colorful, high impact insert. The paper membership card was replaced with a plastic card that reflects the membership value. Guest passes were updated and each member receives a sticker stating they are a member. The new packet is a better reflection of the gardens’ appreciation for each of its members.
