CLIENT: The University of Dubuque is a small, private university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) offering undergraduate, graduate, and theological seminary programs. The University is comprised of individuals from the region, the nation, and the world and is located in eastern Iowa. CHALLENGE: The Seminary needed a new image that matched its vibrant personality and reflected a commitment to technology. The University of Dubuque was the first seminary of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to offer a Master of Divinity distance education program, but the look of the marketing materials was disconnected with its forward-thinking virtual offerings. While UDTS was leading the way for distance learning, it was being overshadowed by other seminaries with more sophisticated and compelling messages in print, online and at events. SOLUTION: Pear Advertising developed a print ad format that capitalized on the university's colorful Blades Chapel window. The window image was incorporated into a graphic signature and appears in all communications. A colorful toolbox of bold colors was used every time in ads, direct mail, banners, folders and inserts. There is now a consistency in the style of the communications across multimedia. By presenting a polished look, UDTS is able to position itself as a leading seminary with the strength and skills to serve the needs of students. Developing a design standard creates immediate brand recognition and maximizes a modest marketing budget. RESULT: UDTS is able to attract students nationwide who may have otherwise overlooked this charming campus in a mid-sized Iowa town. Recruiting efforts are more successful with the polished and professional marketing materials created by Pear Advertising. |
